About AK Coating

AK Coating is an independent educational website about protective coatings, sealers and spray foam insulation in Alaska's climate.

What we cover

Garage floor coatings, roof coatings, spray foam insulation basics, stains and sealers for log homes and decks, and rust protection for steel. Our guides focus on the factors that cause most failures up north: cold surfaces, moisture, salt and short application seasons.

What we are not

• We are not a coatings contractor, manufacturer or retailer, and we don't install or sell products.
• We don't publish prices or endorse specific brands or contractors.

How to use our guides

Our content summarizes widely accepted industry practices and public guidance. Product formulations vary, so always follow the manufacturer's label and technical data sheet, local building codes, and the advice of qualified contractors or engineers for your specific project.
